Born in Nigeria from German and Polish parents, Yvonne Losos de Muñiz became the first Dominican equestrian athlete in history to participate in the Olympics when competing in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games. Her stellar equestrian career began at an early age instilled by her parents, later receiving formal training in Marbach Stud, Germany. Since then, she has worked with the best trainers in the world to reach her goals. She is classified in the FEI International Dressage Rankings as the best-ranked rider in all Latin America, bringing multiple awards and medals to the Dominican Republic throughout her career. Her passion for equestrian sport is manifested in her harmonious communication with her horses and tenacious determination to compete with success in the discipline’s main events.
Yvonne was the double gold medalist and team silver medalist at the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games, competed at the 2018, 2019 and 2022 FEI World Cup Finals, won individual bronze medals at the 2007 and 2003 Pan-American Games, and has won individual silver and bronze medals at CDIO FEI Nations Cups in 2019, 2020 and 2022. She competed at the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo, placing 22nd over, and took part in the the 2021 CDIO 5* Aachen, where she placed eight in the Deutsche Bank Preis Freestyle final. In 2022 she became the first athlete from the Dominican Republic to take part in an FEI World Championships, when she participated in that year’s edition in Herning, Denmark.
In 2022 she was unanimously elected as the Dressage Athletes’ Representative to the FEI Dressage Committee for the period of 2022-2026, and is member of the Board of Directors of the International Dressage Rider’s Club (IDRC).
